Cardigan Community Centre - Trustee Role
We are seeking new trustees to join our dedicated and experienced Board of Trustees, helping to set our strategic objectives and ensure we are governed to the highest possible standards.


Who are we:-
Cardigan Community Centre is a small charity that serves the people of Northwest Leeds based on Cardigan Road in a neighbourhood where many of the residents live with multiple challenges that range from housing, unemployment, health/wellbeing, and a lack of services that meets their needs. You will be joining at a time when there is an increased demand for our services and at a time when the local people are becoming more active and involved in our expansion. Both the pandemic and economic challenges affecting people's financial circumstances and general wellbeing. Now our immediate aim is to develop and maintain services which fit the needs of our communities, but we are looking to do more. Our Board of Trustees, staff and volunteers have worked hard over the past two years and with our new General Manager, we have developed many initiatives to help improve health and welfare of the area.
What we're looking for:-
We are passionate about the value that our projects add to our local community. We are keen to hear from people from a variety of backgrounds but would be particularly interested in candidates with any of the following
- Experience of living and working in Northwest Leeds and the surrounding area
- Business development in a charity
- Knowledge of Human Resources
- Community development in changing times
- Effective communication and marketing
- Experience of economic, financial sustainability and risk management
- Good fundraising skills
We welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds in particularly Black. Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) applicants as they are underrepresented at this level within Cardigan Community Centre
The role:-
The board of Trustee sets the overall strategic direction for the charity and provide scrutiny of our organisation's processes and decisions. We work closely with the management team to decide on our priorities and how we should achieve them. You as a trustee are key to ensuring we continue to remain a viable organisation and stay on track to deliver our charitable objectives. We will expect you to attend 12 meetings in the year at Cardigan Community Centre. The initial appointment is for 3 years which can be renewed and a maximum tenure of 6 years.
